You know you are from Boston when...
you are actually from Boston and not one of the surrounding suburbs
you really do say wicked, this isn't just a cliche
all of your pets are names after Sox, Celts or pats players
you put jimmies on your ice cream not sprinkles
you wear cheaters to see better
you go to a time not a fundraiser
you can handle snow like a man, none of this shutting down for the entire winter non-sense (that is you Quincy figure it out)
you think you are better than anyone from any other city
Soda is club soda. Pop is Dad. If it's fizzy and flavored, it's tonic.
You know you aren't from Boston when
You think the accent is the craziest thing ever... no i will not tell you where i parked my car
"Worchester" do your self a favor and don't sound it out
You cross at a cross walk
You call the T the subway
You don't know what jimmies
Ewww to anyone who calls the T the subway. Looking at the tourists :P But that's really interesting that being defined as a Bostonian can be checked off if one says Pops in switch of Dad, because I find myself do saying it. I forgot how that slang came to be in my everyday life
ReplyDeleteI cracked up at the Worchester comment. It's all so true. And the best is the conversation of "where of you from? boston? but where are you really from?"
ReplyDeleteI thought that was funny too. I will purposely sound it out because it's funny and sounds ridiculous. Pronouncing it the "Boston" way is the right way
Deleteamen amen, fuck those people who think 'greater boston' and boston are the same thing. so this one time my family was coming back from canada and the guy who questioned us was like "where are you from" and my dad said boston, and the guy was like "so quincy? worcester? newton?" it was so bullshit!!! WTF!
ReplyDeleteI hate when I get ice cream in another state and I ask for jimmies and they just stare at me like Im crazy!
ReplyDelete" you can handle snow like a man" This is so true !
