Boston is full of the strongest pride. Everyone here is proud to say where they are from and represent our strong city. I used to cheerlead for a Boston team and the feeling we used to get for representing our home town was amazing.
As a competitions began the feeling of pure excitement overwhelmed my squad.
When our routine was over we ran off the mat into our Boston raised coaches arms excited in hope we had done as well as we felt we had to represent our town well. We stepped off the mat got whiffs of what smelled like the most amazing burger in the world because we hadn't eaten anything since we left Southie 7 hours ago, it was no Sullys but it was pretty damn good. After we ate we heard the announcers say that the last squad was on deck. When their cheer is finished we ran onto the mat sure that everyone could hear us chanting “Who are we? SOUTHIE! How do we feel? FIRED UP! What do we do? WIN!” It was time for awards and it was starting to feel real. Our Boston pride was showing as we wanted to crush the suberbs and get our butts to Disney world because no squad from South Boston Pop Warner cheerleading ever had made it that far. Finally the announcer said “Your first place champions are South Boston!”
I remember this moment and think about our chant and how great it was. We were constantly against the taunten tigers who may have been better then us but we would never admit because we decided ling long ago we were better just because we are southie and they are taunten. The pride mattered, it showed, and it was why we won. GOBOSTON

ReplyDeleteYeah, I tried reading it word by word but I really couldn't make sense of the post because of the color.
